FAQ & Shipping

  • SECONDOCEANARY  is a proxy-buying service.

    What is proxy-buying ?

Proxy-buying means shopping using a third-party to purchase an item on your behalf.

In other words, we help you purchase an item than you cannot buy by yourself and we ship it to you. We curate all items for our store from a handful of trusted foreign shops with over 30 years of great business.

You want to buy from foreign shops.

But buying from foreign shop isn’t easy. You’re dealing with:

    • Foreign online stores which you can’t navigate.
    • Sellers who won’t ship overseas.
    • In-Country-only forms of payment.
    • Foreign shops which can’t answer pre-sales questions in English.
    • You need ASAP help with auctions, limited-edition, and pre-orders items.
You need someone who can handle all this for you. Someone who can answer your questions. Someone who can buy from foreign shops online shops, pick-up your items, and ship your packages from USA. It’s time for you to shop with SECONDOCEANARY.

    What we do.

SECONDOCEANARY offers you the ability to purchase curated items from foreign shops that would otherwise not be available internationally. As most foreign stores do not ship overseas we are able to help you by purchasing these items on your behalf and forwarding them to you from our USA office for a nominal fee already included.

  • Each item has a rating 1-10. An item with a 10/10 rating is conditionally like new and perfect vintage condition. An item with a 1/10 rating is conditionally fragile and needs repair.

Items are graded as 10 like new, 9 excellent, 8 great, 7 good, 6 ok, 5 vintage. We are quite fastidious about the condition of items we stock and most of our products are graded as excellent or very good.

9-10 Excellent means that the item is in as new, unworn condition or shows very minimal wear. Signs of wear are minor and noticeable only upon close inspection. An example may be a small pull in the fabric or a mark of 1-3 mm. Item may show no signs of wear and be in ‘pristine’ condition.

8-7 Great and good means the item shows minimal signs of wear. Signs of wear may be slightly more than what would be seen in an excellent rated product, but again the signs are difficult to spot when the garment is worn.

7-6 Good and Ok means the item shows visible signs of wear. The product is usable but it is evident the item has a past life.

5 Vintage items show obvious signs of use and wear. Sometimes we may source an otherwise great piece that may have more wear than we would usually stock. We price these items to reflect this wear.

  • Customers will be updated on the tracking of their item via email. Alternatively, customers can directly track their orders via the USPS Post website: https://www.usps.com/

  • Items shipped internationally may be subject to customs, duties and taxes. We have no control over any fees or delays caused by customs as these are imposed by the country of import. Any local charges such as customs, duties or taxes are the sole responsibility of the buyer.

  • SECONDOCEANARY accepts no liability for lost orders. We only post orders to given addresses. If regular/unregistered shipping has been selected, SECONDOCEANARY is waived of any liability if the parcel has been lost or stolen. If an invalid address has been provided by the customer, or the parcel is rejected by the customer and returned to SECONDOCEANARY, the customer is responsible for shipment charges to the correct address. SECONDOCEANARY is not responsible for any delays, returns or other delivery decisions made by postal carriers but we will do our best to help you locate your package and facilitate re-delivery where applicable.

  • Returns

Sales are final. At this time, we do not accommodate returns based on change of mind, buyers remorse or fit. Due to the finality of your purchase, please read descriptions carefully and contact us if you have any further questions about a product.

We do, however, accept returns in the unlikely event there has been an error or omission in the description and an item has a significant unlisted defect or is not as described. This does not include overall minor signs of wear. Please note, our items are vintage, not new, which means second hand. Small signs of wear are to be expected. Items listed as ‘brand new’ are the only items that are new, not second hand. Each item has a rating 1-10. An item with a 10/10 rating is conditionally like new and perfect vintage condition. An item with a 1/10 rating is conditionally fragile and needs repair.

Before any action to return an order, you must contact SECONDOCEANARY for approval of the return within 48 hours of receiving the product. Items will not be accepted for return without an approval.

Domestic returns must be received within 7 days of the return’s approval and international returns must be received within 14 days. Returns are processed within 48 hours of receipt. Items must not be worn or used by the customer. Returned items that do not meet our return policies may be refused and returned to you at your cost.

  • We currently do not offer a layaway option, however, Australian customers have the option of paying via Afterpay, which allows the customer to pay for their order over 4 instalments, interest free.

  • We aim to provide quality vintage and rarely sell items with major defects that would have a rating lower than “good” (that is, an item that is not in wearable condition). Please note however, that our items are vintage and some are over 10 years old, some of them may be older than you. That means that the majority of our items had a past life and  some signs of wear are to be expected. However, we inspect each item thoroughly and are committed to providing as much information as possible about each item’s condition. Please carefully read our description and inspect our photos thoroughly before purchasing an item. If you have any queries about the state of a garment, please do not hesitate to contact us with any inquiries.

  • All items are guaranteed authentic with a full money back guarantee including shipping. Every piece is individually handpicked and carefully vetted before making it online. We have worked tirelessly to build a network of reputable sources. The majority of our products are purchased pre-authenticated, and are authenticated again in our studio. Our experience in dealing with vintage designer products allows us to cross reference newly arrived pieces with our extensive archive.

We do not purchase items from private sellers.  All items are only acquired from reputable international dealers who have a dedicated authentication team.

Should you have any queries about the authenticity of an item contact us.

  • Each of our listings includes a marked size, a “best fit” size, and various measurements. The marked size comes from the garment and should only be used if you are familiar with other items from that brand, and from the same period. The “best fit” size is an estimation based on our experience with the item. In the case that “best fit” covers a range of sizes, we estimate that it will fit anyone within that range, but with a different look, e.g. if an item is marked “best fit” XS-L or “free-size” it will obviously give a more oversized look on those at the smaller end of the spectrum. We find that some items we come across can be worn by a range of sizes and body types.

The measurements are the most accurate tool for gauging the size of an item. These measurements are most useful when compared to the measurements of a similar garment in your wardrobe. Details of how we take various measurements are listed below.

Measurements are taken laid flat. If you want the full measurement of the bust, hips or waist double our measurement

Chest: the distance between the armpit seams
Hips: the width of the garment, measured just above the crotch, or a few inches below the waist
Inseam: the length of the inside of the leg, from the crotch seam to the bottom hem.
Length: For shirts, tops or dresses, this is the distance from the top of the shoulder seam to the bottom hem. For skirts, this is the distance from the top of the waist to the bottom hem.
Sleeves: the distance from the middle of the neck to the end of the cuff.
Waist/Waistband: For pants and skirts, this is the top of the garment. For dresses and shirts, this is the narrowest section, between the underarm and crotch.

Please be aware that we do not accept returns based on fit. If you have any questions based on the fit of the garment please do not hesitate to contact us.

  • All of our images are taken of the actual product for sale. While we make every effort to present our product accurately, actual colour may vary slightly due to different device screen settings and studio lighting. In purchasing from SECONDOCEANARY, you agree to accept the small risk that there will be a slight variation between the actual colour and design, and the representation on our website.

  • Occasionally stock levels are not up-to-date on the Online Store, this means items may not be available at the time of purchase. The likelihood of this occurring is extremely rare.

If this occurs to an item in your order, you will be notified by email as soon as possible and offered a suitable replacement or a full refund.
